About Us

"Adaptive Equine Services"

The Reise "Adaptive Equine Services" program is a collection of various resources available to assist those in need of more than the typical horsemanship, or equitation, experience. Through our partnerships with other local entities, we are able to offer Equine-Assisted Learning, Equine-Facilitated Psychotherapy, Individual and Group sessions, and Standard Lessons in both English and Western disciplines.

Why We Exist

Reise AES was founded to address an outstanding need to provide equine activities to those who could benefit from them, but were unable to find a local resource to participate in.  Since its creation, Reise has partnered with multiple individuals and organizations that work together to provide the utmost care and most valuable resources to help our participants reach their goals.  Whether they are in need of therapeutic riding, professional counseling, or simply a support system, the Reise AES program has created the relationships necessary to answer the call.

Our Team

The people of Reise Adaptive Equine Services are what make it effective and special.  We are proud to have counselors, veterans, and those who want to serve others are part of our family.

MJ Higgins

MJ Higgins served in the United States Marine Corps as a Cyber Network Systems Chief with the infantry. He is a PATH International Registered Therapeutic Riding Instructor, Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning, and also serves on the Equine Services for Heroes Committee. As a TRI and ESMHL, he has been able to expand beyond veterans equine therapy and works with similar organizations, providing equine therapy to disabled adults and children. His wife and young son have become an intricate part of these programs with him. MJ's passion for this work grows each day and the experiences gained throughout have been immensely rewarding.

Terry Lemmon

Terry Lemmon served over twenty years in the US Army as an Airborne Ranger and Special Operations Operator in multiple combat operations as a sniper and team leader.  He is a PATH International Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning. Terry has continued to dedicate himself to aiding other veterans in their journey to recovery, and has lately begun working with children and adults with special needs.  He is currently pursuing his Registered Therapeutic Instructor certification to gain more knowledge in helping others.

Jan Watson

Jan Watson is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Mississippi, certified Mental Health Therapist, and a PATH International Registered Therapeutic Riding Instructor.  She applies her vast knowledge and caring heart to the program to help people of all different backgrounds and situations.  Combining equine knowledge with counseling, she is able to reach others in ways the program could never replace.  Jan is also the owner of Pete and Zeke, two of our wonderful equines.
